Citrus Tree Health Care Plan
Citrus Trees Get Deficiencies, Infections, And Attacked By Pests Too
Problems for citrus trees are numerous. In addition to being extremely sensitive to cold weather, these fruit producing trees develop disorders, have many predators, and numerous deficiencies are common.
Citrus Canker and Citrus Greening are two examples of bacterial infections. Sooty mold can grow on citrus due to excrement of insects with piercing-sucking mouth parts such as whiteflies, scales, aphids, and mealybugs. Insufficient levels of Nitrogen, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, and Manganese in the soil where citrus is planted requires fertilization. Luckily, Lawngevity has a solution.
We Are Well Versed In Citrus Tree Health
Fun Fact: If you grew up here if Florida then you probably already knew the Orange is the Official State Fruit of Florida. And if you didn’t know, well now you do.
First of all, we apply both liquid and granular fertilizer at differing times of the year for maximum benefit and compliance with any local fertilizer ordinances. Experts have determined that at minimum sixteen elements are considered necessary for the growth of plants and trees (including citrus trees), not including water, carbon dioxide, and of course sunlight.
Diseases like Citrus Canker, Alternia Brown Spot, Citrus Scab, and Greasy Spot can be controlled with copper fungicides. Over use of copper can damage a tree so it’s best to leave this to those trained in citrus tree health.
Citrus Minor Element Spray
In addition to liquid and granular fertilizers a nutritional spray is applied to the tree. This minor element application consist of magnesium, manganese, iron, sulfur,
copper, zinc, and boron.
Edible Fruit Insecticide
For citrus pest defense you cannot use just any insecticide, as it must be designed for use on edible fruit trees. Lawngevity only uses safe and effective products on edible fruit plants and gardens. So if you are growing oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, tangelos, lemons, or mangoes go ahead and enjoy.
In addition to citrus, palm trees face challenges too. Got a sick Palm Tree? We have a Palm Tree Care service as well. Take a look.
